Let’s talk about one of my favorite locations! Fogarty Creek State Park, located on the central coast of Oregon near the town of Depoe Bay, about 20 minutes south of Lincoln City. It offers a stunning natural backdrop for family photos. It’s also popular spot for outdoor activities, wildlife viewing, and simply enjoying the natural surroundings. The park is known for its dramatic coastal views, rugged cliffs, and serene beaches, which make it an excellent location for capturing beautiful family moments.

1. **Variety of Locations**: There are multiple spots within the park to explore and capture different vibes. For example:
   – The rocky coastline is perfect for a dramatic, windswept shot.
   – The beach area offers a more relaxed, playful atmosphere, especially if you plan to get your feet wet.
   – The park’s lush greenery and forested areas can provide a more serene, natural feel for photos.


    -Wooden bridges that go across Fogarty Creek. 
    -Sometimes if you are quiet and look closely you will spot wild bunnies.
2. **Fog and Weather**: The area is known for its misty fog, especially in the mornings. While fog can add a mystical and ethereal quality to photos, it’s worth considering that it may limit visibility for distant views. If you’re planning a session during the foggy months (typically fall and spring), be prepared for variable weather.
3. **Beach & Forest**: Best of both worlds! The park features a mix of coastal forest, rocky shores, and sandy beaches. The coastline with its rocky outcrops provides a fantastic backdrop for group photos, especially during golden hour when the lighting is soft and warm. Or if you are wanting pictures with the beauty of our forest there is a spot for that too! 

4. **Timing**: Sunset and sunrise are ideal for softer, golden light. The light near sunset is particularly beautiful, but it can get chilly in the evenings, so bring layers if you plan to stay until dusk. Weekdays are typically less crowded, making it easier to find a quiet spot to photograph.
5. **Access and Terrain**: There are easy-to-access trails and viewpoints, making it a family-friendly location. However, be aware that some of the areas can be rocky, so comfortable shoes are recommended if you plan to walk along the beach or through the forest. There is also a restroom and plenty of parking!
6. **Additional Tips**:
   – Consider incorporating props such as blankets, picnic items, or family heirlooms to add a personal touch to the photos.
   – Watch the tide schedules; at high tide, some areas of the beach might be inaccessible.

Overall, Fogarty Creek State Park offers a beautiful, diverse environment that can make for memorable family photos, whether you’re capturing a candid moment on the beach or staging a family portrait with the majestic cliffs in the background.
